Welcome to 30A Florida!
Hey there! If you’re looking for fun family-friendly things to do on 30A, Florida, then look no further. Over the years, my family has made some of our most favorite memories here on 30A. And today, I want to share some of our favorite 30A things to do so you and your family can make your own special memories.
This list is packed with 10 family-friendly ideas that are easy for everyone to enjoy. Enjoy!

1. Grab Ice Cream at Blue Mountain Beach Creamery
Blue Mountain Beach Creamery is the perfect mid-day family-friendly activity for when the sun’s blazing down and you need something cold. Just off 30A, Blue Mountain Beach Creamery serves up delicious homemade ice cream in rotating flavors. Some of my favorites are key lime pie, coconut, cookies and cream, and of course butter pecan.
Plus, they serve frozen yogurt and refreshing fruit sorbets. The line does get longer after dinner, but it moves quickly and there’s plenty of space to relax on the porch or side yard while you eat.

2. Walk the Beach at Sunset (Santa Rosa Beach)
Walking the beach at sunset is absolutely a must-have on my list of things to do on 30A. And to be honest, I didn’t rank these in any specific order, but if I had to pick a number one thing to recommend for you and your family, this would probably be it.
There’s something for everyone with this activity. You can look for shells, walk along the shoreline, watch for dolphins in the distance, or just stand in the water and let your feet rest after a long day. Sunset is when the beach feels calm and peaceful. The heat has faded, there’s usually a nice breeze, and the sound of the waves is just unreal. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
If your kids are up for it, you can stay a little longer and use your flashlight to go looking for ghost crabs. It’s a super popular family activity and honestly could have its own section on this blog.

3. Explore 30A by Bike on the Timpoochee Trail
Biking is a big part of the 30A lifestyle. It’s one of the most popular ways to get around and really soak in the area. You’ll see families, couples, and kids on bikes all day long, riding between beach towns like Seaside, WaterColor, and Grayton.
The full Timpoochee Trail runs about 18 miles along Scenic Highway 30A, but you definitely don’t have to do the whole thing. Most of our biking happens around Santa Rosa Beach, and that alone gives you plenty to see and enjoy.
If you want to avoid renting bikes, try booking an Airbnb that provides them. A lot of places include bikes with your stay because they know how big the biking scene is here. It makes it super easy to ride straight from where you’re staying, stop for a beach break or a snack, and just take your time. This is one of those simple, fun activities that really makes the trip feel complete.

4. Breakfast at The Perfect Pig
There’s no better way to start your morning on 30A than with a proper Southern breakfast, and The Perfect Pig totally delivers. The space is light and cozy with a laid-back vibe that still feels a little elevated. It’s easily one of our favorite spots to kick off the day.
The menu leans Southern and is full of flavor. My go-to is the breakfast skillet with two eggs, thick-cut bacon, a biscuit with house-made apple butter, and a mug of grits.
There’s a kids menu with simple picks like scrambled eggs and French toast. If you’re up early, it’s a great place to beat the rush. The service is always friendly, the coffee is strong, and the mimosas are a favorite for a reason.

5. Explore Grayton Beach State Park
If you love wildlife, Grayton Beach State Park is a must-visit. You can spot dolphins swimming nearby, sea turtles crossing the sand, and stingrays gliding in the shallows. I also really enjoyed hiking the coastal dune trails. It’s an easy walk through pine forests and dunes where we saw shorebirds, crabs, and lots of native plants.
There is more to explore, including cabins to rent, paddle-boarding on Western Lake, and plenty of other outdoor activities. You can find the full list on the official Grayton Beach State Park website.
This park is also a popular spot for family photos. We booked a photographer here during our trip and our pictures turned out beautifully. There is a small entrance fee per vehicle but it is well worth it for the clean facilities, shaded picnic areas, and easy parking that make a day here feel effortless.

6. Family Dinner at Old Florida Fish House
We like to plan at least one nicer dinner while we’re on 30A, and out of all the spots we’ve tried, Old Florida Fish House is the one I have to recommend. It feels elevated but is still super family-friendly. The huge outdoor area with live music gives kids plenty of room to roam without the place feeling too formal.
The outdoor lawn is perfect for families and groups. There’s giant Jenga, corn hole, string lights, photo spots, and plenty of space to explore while you wait for your food. Inside, cozy booths and a diverse menu cover everything from sushi and seafood to great kid-friendly options.
One thing I love is that they take reservations, which is a huge help during busy times. It’s a great choice for a night when you want to dress up a little and snap some family photos in that golden light right before sunset.

7. Explore the Food Trucks and Shops at Seaside
You could easily spend half a day here — Seaside is the heart of shopping and good eats along 30A. It’s packed with boutiques (my three sisters and wife always find something), and shops are always changing, so it feels new every time you visit. A couple of my staples are Sundog Books/Central Square Records and Black Bear Bread Co.
If you’re after a sit-down meal, I’d recommend The Shrimp Shack for a family dinner (I highly recommend the shrimp and grits). Afterward, swing by It’s Heavenly Shortcakes and Ice Cream for dessert.
Or go the food truck route. The Meltdown is a grilled cheese favorite, Pickle’s Burgers & Shakes is always solid, and Beach Dogs serves one of my all-time must-haves, the Bushwacker (if you know, you know).
Bonus: a lot of these food spots are just steps from beach access. It’s the kind of place where you can eat, shop, walk the beach, and catch live events or music all in one go. Check Seaside’s website to see what’s happening while you’re there.

8. Classic Beach Day Activities for Families on 30A
Spending time on the beach is the bread and butter of any 30A trip, and there’s more to do than just sit under an umbrella.
One thing I really appreciate about this area is how accessible the beaches are. There are custom beach wheelchairs available so that everyone in the family can enjoy the sand and surf together. You can learn more here: 30A Beach Wheelchairs
Water & Sand Fun
- Wade or float in the shallow Gulf surf (perfect for toddlers and early swimmers)
- Build sandcastles with a starter kit or try drip castles for older kids
- Try skimboarding or snorkeling (gear rentals are available in Seaside and Grayton Beach)
Beach Games
- Bring a Waboba ball or Spikeball set for teens and adults
- Pack a frisbee, paddleball set, or even a kite — it’s usually breezy in the afternoons
Slow & Easy Activities
- Hunt for seashells or go looking for crabs at night with a flashlight
- Bring a waterproof speaker for music or relax under an umbrella with a good book
- Watch for dolphins, herons, or pelicans, especially early in the morning or at sunset.

9. Visit Eden Gardens State Park
I saved one of my favorite spots for the end of this list: Eden Gardens State Park. This place is full of southern charm with old oak trees covered in Spanish moss, magnolia blooms, the scent of roses, and a wide variety of beautiful southern plants.
Right in the center of it all is the historic Wesley House. It feels like something straight out of an old southern movie. A lot of weddings take place here, and it’s easy to see why. The setting is peaceful, elegant, and photogenic.
You can explore the gardens, take a walk down the trail that leads toward the bay, or relax in one of the rocking chairs that wrap around the porch of the house. They also offer guided tours at certain times. You can check the tour schedule on the park’s website here.
In my opinion, Eden Gardens is one of the most underrated spots on 30A. I’ve even thought about writing a separate blog post just for this park, and if I do, I’ll link it here.

10. Enjoy the Beach Houses and Coastal Views
I’m not sure if this is just my family, but we genuinely love checking out all the stunning beach houses along 30A. Each one has its own charm, style, and personality. Some are bright and colorful, others are sleek and modern, and a lot of them even have their own names posted out front.
You can spot them while walking along the beach, biking through neighborhoods, or even just driving back after dinner. It’s a simple activity, but surprisingly fun. The kids even get into it and start picking their favorites or giving the houses funny nicknames.
Seaside in particular has some really beautiful homes, and it’s easy to stroll past them after grabbing a bite or doing a little shopping.

Before You Pack Up the Beach Bag…
There are so many family-friendly things to do on 30A, it’s honestly tough to narrow it down to just ten. But these were some of the activities my family personally enjoyed the most, and I hope a few of them make it onto your itinerary too.
